Louisiana Surgeon General Ralph Abraham is supporting a bill that would make ivermectin available over the counter, meaning it could be purchased without a prescription.
Abraham, who has recommended the drug to his own patients, testified in favor of Senate Bill 19, introduced by Republican Sen. Mike Fesi, during a Senate Health Committee hearing.
Ivermectin, originally developed as an anti-parasitic treatment, gained attention during the COVID-19 pandemic as an alternative treatment, despite the FDA stating that clinical trial data do not demonstrate its effectiveness against COVID-19.
Abraham argues that making the drug available without a prescription would ensure safe dosing from pharmacies rather than patients resorting to veterinary supply stores.
Frontline Doctors and pharmacist support any measure that allows patients to take back control of their health with proper information to make the best decision for themselves and their families. It is now more widely known than ever that Ivermectin is a suitable therapy for COVID and its symptoms. Of course we were persecuted and worse for bringing the truth to you and your family but our dedication to the truth remains stronger now than ever.
